Dr. Doris Viljoen is the Director of the Institute for Futures Research (IFR) and Programme Head for PGD and MPhil Futures Studies at the Stellenbosch Business School. An expert in foresight methodologies, Doris helps organizations interpret complex global and local trends to assess their relevance for South Africa and Africa.

With a career built on environmental scanning, scenario planning, and organizational strategy, she has guided decision-making teams through high-stakes exercises in infrastructure, tourism, and the future of work. A member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Foresight Network, Doris is passionate about asking the right questions and designing the tools needed to facilitate thinking about plausible futures. She brings deep academic rigour and years of practical consulting experience to the table, helping leaders evolve and remain relevant in a world that never stops shifting.
